A large part of the municipality of Santa Pola are protected natural sites. The town has a port and is centred around a castle, and is enclosed by the surrounding natural areas. To the west we find the Salinas de Santa Pola national park and a mountain range with the cape of Santa Pola to the east. On this cape these is a striking lighthouse that was built in 1858, from which you can see the small island of Tabarca, a highly picturesque site of great tourist appeal.
